If You Only Knew

Anyone who drinks (from) this (well) water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.

What an amazing Savior! This woman had a past of looking for love in all the wrong places, imprisoning her in shame and self-loathing. But Jesus met her at her point of greatest need with an offer or the lowliest of low could not refuse, he offered himself—the living water! He knew all she had ever done and yet he still offered her all of himself. He offered to her intimacy and true love that satisfies the thirstiest of souls, and every aching need. He invited her to come, taste and experience the goodness of his perfect and unconditional love.

Jesus is saying the same thing today: if you only knew who it is who comes to you in your darkest and weakest moments. If you only knew this gift of God who will never leave you or for sake you, who has gone before you, who already knows everything about you, and who comes to you in the midst of your storms. If you only knew the One who reaches out to you even when you have failed and who does not hold your past mistakes, present failures, or anything in the future against you.

If we only knew this gift of God Who offers the living water of his unconditional, endless love to us and we drink of that love, we will never thirst again. We won’t need to look for love or acceptance in all the wrong places, have our hearts broken and fearful about the future, and have our lives derailed. We can wake up with a fresh expectation of good, every day.

Jesus was inviting the woman to ask Him for the living water of His love. Will you do that today? Your life will never be the same again when you personally experience His love!
